In October the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship descended upon Camp Becket in the Berkshires for their annual Fall Retreat! The week was filled with informational workshops and team building activities! We kicked off Retreat with an activity led by second year fellow, Renata. This was followed by the first round of Fellow Olympics. Afterwards the group was led through a low ropes course with YMCA Camp Becket staff. The night ended with a LGBTQ Workshop with MPF alum, Alan Ratliff.
On Thursday we kicked off with the second session of Fellow Olympics! Jashawn and Gio provided the group a college affordability workshop which showcased their work at uAspire. Emily shared public speaking strategies in her Powerful Voices session and senior fellow Cat led a workshop on Learning to Leave Your Legacy. During the afternoon fellows had the option to participate in a high ropes course, canoeing and kayaking. Frankie was the host of this year’s MPF Fashion show. During the evening the group roasted marshmallows by an open fire! Will organized a viewing of the first film in this year’s social justice film series, Precious Knowledge.
On the last day of the Retreat MPF staff member (and program alum) Katy A led a “Care for the Caregiver” workshop. Katie F joined in with a meditation skillshare. After a long week these self-care sessions were much needed! The Retreat was an amazing opportunity to escape the city and connect with Fellows in an intimate way.
